GreenShares

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 20, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how GreenShares (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use GreenShares (the “Service”). In these terms, “we” and “us” mean the operator of the Service.

Read both documents. This Policy and our Terms of Service work together—you should read both before using the Service. The Terms cover legal rights, licenses, and liability; this Policy covers personal data. If they conflict on those topics, the Terms control licenses and liability; this Policy controls how we handle personal data.

Important: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we limit our liability and do not guarantee perfect security or uninterrupted processing of personal data. The details are in Section 13 below and in our Terms of Service (Sections 11–12).

2. Information We Collect

The list below is a general description of what we may collect—not every item applies to every user, session, or feature.

a. Information You Provide

  • Account details (email, username, etc.)
  • Content you submit (see Section 2(e) below)
  • If you submit a bug report, we also collect the page you were on when you sent it, and diagnostic context the app attaches to help us reproduce and fix the issue. That may include things like your screen and viewport dimensions, whether the app is used in a browser or as an installed (standalone) app, the effective light/dark appearance at the time of submission (including your theme choice and how it resolves when set to "system"), language, time zone, coarse device or OS class, browser or platform signals available to the app, and similar technical details. We may also include an internal error or incident reference ID, if one was generated for that error or session.

b. Automatically Collected

  • IP address (for example, in server request logs to operate and protect the service)
  • Device or browser class information, as available from the connection or your user agent
  • Usage data (pages, actions, timestamps)

c. Cookies / Local Storage

We only use essential cookies and similar technologies required for the Service to function, such as authentication and session management.

We do not use cookies for analytics, tracking, advertising, or any non-essential purposes.

d. Profile Data & Visibility

Your username, display name, profile photo, and email address are always visible to administrators of the Service, regardless of any other privacy settings. Ordinary users do not see your email address.

Your display name, username, and profile photo may also appear in many parts of the Service and may be visible to other users. Do not assume this data is private.

If you sign in with Google, your display name, email address, and profile photo are obtained directly from your Google account and stored as part of your GreenShares profile. The same applies to any other third-party sign-in provider the Service may support.

We use your email address primarily to identify your account and to send email according to this Policy and our Terms of Service. We do not sell your email or profile data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or unrelated purposes (see Section 5 for limited operational sharing with service providers).

e. Content you submit

Content you submit (text, files, media, messages, and similar) is stored and processed so we can run the Service. Legal licenses for that content are in our Terms of Service (Section 6, User Content); this subsection describes the privacy side only.

Private or recipient-limited content (for example, direct messages, private chats, or invite-only areas) is processed to deliver the feature you use. We do not use that content for marketing or promotional purposes.

Broad or open content—content you post through a feature that makes it visible beyond a private or recipient-limited context—may be used for in-service marketing or showcase purposes (for example, screenshots in announcements). That applies only if this Service actually has such a feature. If it does not, we do not use your content that way. See Section 6, User Content in the Terms for the full rules, including what is never used for promotion.

Uploads may be scanned by automated safety systems (including through infrastructure vendors), which can apply to non-public content too. We do not manually review non-public content in ordinary operations. Details are in the Terms under Automated safety screening.

3. How We Use Information

We use data to:

  • Provide and operate the Service (including hosting and delivering content you submit)
  • Improve functionality and performance
  • Communicate with users
  • Detect fraud, abuse, or security issues (including automated safety screening of uploads)

Promotional or showcase use of content applies only in the narrow case described in Section 2(e) above and in Terms of Service Section 6. It does not apply to private messages, private chats, or other non-public content.

4. Emails / Notifications

You can unsubscribe from most transactional or product-related emails and control your preferences in your account settings. We do not send optional or marketing-style emails to addresses that have unsubscribed from the relevant category.

However, as long as you have an active account with us, we may send essential emails in cases where we deem appropriate (for example, content reports, moderation, security notifications, or account actions such as a ban or restriction)—even if you have unsubscribed from other categories or regardless of subscription status. Those essential notifications can only be fully disabled by deleting your account.

Deleted or disabled accounts receive no emails from us, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share data:

  • With service providers (hosting, infrastructure, email delivery)
  • If required by law
  • To protect rights, safety, or security

6. Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, etc., your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

We will seek to honor transfer-related privacy requests ourselves and will seek to require any successor to honor this Privacy Policy or provide notice of material changes. We cannot guarantee a successor's conduct and are not liable for it. Where applicable under law, you may also have the right to opt out of certain transfers or request deletion.

A business transfer is different from selling personal data for advertising purposes.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service.

If you request account deletion, we schedule completion after a grace period—the length is shown when you request deletion. Logging in again before that date cancels the pending deletion. After that period, we remove identifiable personal data from your account and delete related content tied to your account (such as media and other data we delete when we close your account). We may keep a minimal internal account record with anonymized placeholders where needed so safety, moderation, or legal records can remain consistent without retaining your direct identifiers.

We may retain limited data for longer only when required by law, to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, prevent abuse, or protect security. We may keep aggregated or de-identified data where permitted. Operational or technical logs may persist in limited or anonymized form.

8. Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

Access to personal data is limited to authorized team members and service providers who need it to operate, secure, or support the Service. We generally try to maintain audit trails for administrative access and most systems automatically notify other administrators of manually triggered sensitive actions by another administrator; however, logging and notification coverage may vary by system and are not guaranteed to capture every event.

We also reduce risk by limiting unnecessary access to internal systems even among administrators (including direct database access) and restricting network access wherever reasonably possible.

We rely on established third-party infrastructure and hosting providers to support security and availability. While we choose providers we believe are reputable, we do not control their systems and are not responsible for third-party outages, breaches, or failures beyond our reasonable control.

No security measure is perfect. We disclaim warranties regarding absolute security to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law (see Sections 1 and 13). Nothing here is a guarantee that the Service will remain secure.

If we become aware of a confirmed data breach or security issue that impacts users or affects personal data, we will provide notice where required by applicable law, and may otherwise do so at our discretion.

If you believe you have found a security issue, please report it to /contact and our team may review it at our discretion.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights under local law. You are responsible for reviewing rights available in your jurisdiction. If you believe a local law applies to you, contact us at /contact and we may review your request as applicable.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may link to external websites or include features that rely on third-party services (for example, sign-in with a social account, payment processors, or embedded content). If you follow a link away from the Service or use such a feature, you are interacting with that third party—not with us.

We do not control those sites or services. Their privacy practices, terms, and content are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for how third parties collect, use, or protect your information, or for the availability or accuracy of external sites.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Continued use means acceptance.

13. Realistic expectations

This Policy describes how we intend to handle data. It is not a guarantee that every edge case will match this text forever, or that data will never be lost, delayed, intercepted, or accessed without authorization—those risks exist for any online service.

If you have a problem with the product itself (uptime, bugs, warranties, liability limits, and so on), that is covered in our Terms of Service (including disclaimers and limitation of liability there). This section is only about how we think about responsibility in connection with this Policy.

To the maximum extent applicable law allows, GreenShares and the person or people operating it are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or punitive damages—or lost profits, goodwill, or similar—arising from our privacy practices, third-party services we rely on, security incidents outside our reasonable control, or your reliance on this Policy. We are a small operation; that kind of open-ended exposure is not something we can reasonably take on.

Where the law does not allow those limitations, they do not apply to you. That includes things like mandatory consumer or privacy rights in your country, and (where the law says so) liability that cannot be capped or waived.

14. Contact
